Visit to KMF, Dharwad:
Global Business School, Hubli – Finance Area had organized Industrial Visit to KMF, Dharwad on 17th Aug 2023 for Cost and Management Accounting students of MBA Sem II. The purpose of this visit was to know how milk and milk products are manufactured. Challenges in production process, procurement of milk, pricing etc. Mr. Udaykumar – Plant In-charge officer explained in details how the milk is procured from the farmer, timing of delivery of milk to the KMF, process involved in conversion of  raw milk into finished product before it is packed, grading of milk based on fat content and packing process for different grades of milk. He also explained the Process involved in making sweets, butter and milk powder. The plant is fully automatized and hence manpower requirement is minimal. As cost of production and other details was maintained by the KMF, so any changes in pricing of milk will be decided centrally by the KMF authorities. We also had opportunity to interact with Managing Director of KMF and he also appreciated that management graduates are gaining knowledge through experiential learning. Overall the visit helped the students to understand process costing and inventory management practices.
